Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data cppjobs.dev collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Last updated: 17 October 2026
1. Who is responsible for your data
cppjobs.dev is operated by Aleksandar Preočanin, an individual based in the Republic of Serbia ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, write to support@cppjobs.dev.
2. What we collect
When you post a job
We collect the company name, a contact email, an optional logo, the content of the post, the link or email address for applications, the promotion options you chose and the price recorded for the post. The contact email is never shown on the site; we use it to send a link that confirms the address, a note that the post is in review once you confirm, the result of our review, and to tell you when the post is corrected, taken down or reaches the end of its listing. Everything else in the post is published. Do not put personal details of other people in a post unless they agree.
When you subscribe to job alerts
We collect your email address, how often you want to hear from us, and your job preferences: work arrangement, countries, contract types and minimum salary. We email you a link to confirm that the address is yours, and record when you last confirmed it as proof of your consent. We also record when we last sent you an alert.
When you browse the site
There are no user accounts, no advertising, and no tracking cookies. We measure how the site is used with a self-hosted Umami instance that runs on our own server: it sets no cookies and does not follow you across other sites. It records page views, clicks on Apply (with the job's id) and the steps of subscribing or posting a job, together with your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, the site that referred you, and your approximate location (country, region and city) derived from your IP address. Your IP address is also used to compute an anonymous visitor identifier that changes every day; the IP address itself is not stored. Your choice of light or dark theme is saved in your browser's local storage and is not sent to us. To limit how many requests one sender can make, we count requests per IP address, and per email address entered in a form, in the server's memory only; these counts are never stored and are gone when the server restarts. Our application writes your IP address to its logs only when a form submission is caught by our spam trap, so that we can recognise and block automated abuse. Email addresses do not appear in our logs; when an email cannot be delivered, we log only the domain of the address. The hosting infrastructure may keep standard server logs.
When you write to us
Through the contact form we receive your name if you give it, your email address, your message, the page you sent it from and the job it is about, if any. To handle abuse we also store the IP address and browser (user agent) it was sent from. When you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you write to us.
You need to give us a company name and a contact email to post a job, and an email address to subscribe. Without them we cannot provide these services.
3. Why we use it and on what legal basis
- To confirm your email address, and to publish and manage your job post. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To send the job alerts you asked for. This is based on your consent, which you give by clicking the link in the confirmation email and can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
- To answer your messages. This is based on our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
- To review posts, prevent abuse, keep the site working and back it up. This is based on our legitimate interest in running a safe and reliable job board.
- To understand how the site is used, through aggregate statistics that cannot identify you. This is based on our legitimate interest in running and improving the site.
4. Who receives your data
We share personal data only with the services we need to run the site:
- Hetzner hosts the site and its database on servers in Germany.
- Zoho Mail delivers the emails we send and hosts our mailbox.
- Cloudflare stores backups of our database (Cloudflare R2).
Job posts are public. They appear on the site, in job alert emails and in link previews, and we may share them on our social media channels. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
5. Where your data is processed
Our servers are in Germany, and we manage the site from Serbia. Database backups are stored with Cloudflare in Eastern Europe. Zoho and Cloudflare may process data in other countries, including outside the European Economic Area, with the safeguards described in their own privacy policies and data processing terms.
6. How long we keep it
- Job posts and their contact email: a post is listed for 65 days from approval, or until it is closed earlier. We delete it, with its contact email, 365 days after it leaves the site.
- Unconfirmed posts: these are never public. Posts that are not confirmed within 7 days are deleted automatically.
- Declined posts: deleted 7 days after we decline them. This includes published posts that we take down because they break our terms.
- Job alert requests: deleted automatically after 7 days, whether or not you confirmed them. A confirmed request has by then become your subscription.
- Job alert subscriptions: until you unsubscribe. 30 days later we erase your email address; what remains (the dates and your preferences) no longer contains your email address and only feeds our subscriber statistics.
- Contact form messages: deleted 365 days after you send them, whether or not they were answered. The copy that reaches our mailbox, and any emails we exchange with you, are kept as long as we need them to handle your request and any follow-up, then deleted.
- Logos that no post uses: deleted automatically within 48 hours. This covers logos that were uploaded but never used, logos that were later replaced or removed, and the logos of deleted posts.
- Application logs: rotated by size. Each part of the site keeps at most 60 MB of logs, and the oldest entries are overwritten first.
- Backups: database backups are kept for 7 days, so data deleted from the site is gone from every backup 7 days later.
- Usage statistics: kept for as long as the site runs; they cannot be linked back to you.
You can ask us to delete your data sooner; see Your rights below.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct data that is wrong;
- delete your data;
- restrict how we use your data, or stop using it where we rely on legitimate interest;
- give you your data in a portable format.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, write to support@cppjobs.dev. We reply within 30 days.
You can also complain to the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Serbia or, if you live in the European Union, to the data protection authority in your country.
8. Unsubscribing
Every job alert email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click. You can also write to us and we will unsubscribe you.
9. Children
The site is not meant for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Links to other sites
Job posts link to employers' own sites and email addresses. When you apply, your application goes straight to the employer and is covered by the employer's privacy policy, not this one.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we publish the new version here and update the date at the top of the page.
12. Contact
